I was stationed at Myrtle Beach (MB) from '88 to 92ish. During most of that time an A-7 was sequestered in the corner of a hanger until announced base closure. During the draw-down this jet was towed into a paint barn and received fresh MB regalia. In short; while posted amongst the A-10's me and a SRT team watched this jet taxi and fly into a gloomy sky for an unknown to me (at this time) museum. It was a weekend and there was no fanfare. A lone colonel told us it's destination. I'm embarrassed to disremember his name as it may have been Sandy Sharpe (from F-117/Area 51 fame). My God I was in the middle of all this and pissed it away in bars and retardation:
