The only solution is a ref in the boat and immediate release. Big fan of this format. Go-Pro's would facilitate. Walleye tournaments could use a net to ensure landing and prevent hook injury.

Calibrate all ref scales.

Could have it like car racing where if someone gets accused of cheating and found guilty accuser gets to claim your boat , Haha I even saw where there was talk about polygraph tests for Coyote tournaments. Competition is an amazing thing that does amazing things. I liked shooting sports for the reason that there was no way possible that a person could cheat but there were still accusers and sore losers.

reading this, i just think it's sad that we now have to treat sportsmen as children who will do anything to win... remember when there were unwritten rules of conduct, formerly known as ethics or character???

I was just blabbing about cheating in general , I wasn't at the tournament so I don't know what all went on but it reads to me like lack of planning on the casinos part. AKA an honest mistake. They need a new tournament director that is organized and willing to pay attention to detail and have pre tournament meetings with casino employees so everyone is on the same page. I see a lot of posts that people had a lot of fun , It looks to me like It's not the tournament that sucks, The tournament director just did a rotten job of hosting the event.

Its not that anybody is accussing the fisherman of cheating, its the fact that this tournament was so disorganized that the right hand didnt know what the left hand was doing. that started at rules meeting when the two that spoke and started changing starting times and bounderies. It continued Saturday morning when lining boats up to launch. 1st flight got off all right but second was a mess. Flight was to leave at 7:45 but not all boats were in water at flight time. Some boats were told to look at watch when they got launched and come back in eight hours later. No one took boat numbers to keep track of things. It only continued from there to the very end. I like to fish that area for numbers of fish and size but I wont do it again in that tournament.

this exactly happened on the 2nd day with flights also... it was just a total cluster... the tournament director did say he was stepping down at the weigh-in's Sunday... I totally agree it was the most fun tournament to fish in... but I could have just fished and not had the tournament stress and probably not go out and buy a new graph because mine took a shit while I waited for it to be repaired... on Sunday we honestly caught over 250 walleye it was THE most amazing day I have ever had on the water... pre-fishing was amazing also we had 50-60 fish days every day... I had never fished that part of the lake and it was truly the best fishing I have ever come across last week we caught fish at almost every point or flat that we tried to fish... pulled in 2 monster pike 15-20 pounders... just missed an 8-10lb walleye at the boat on Sunday... as far as location for a tournament and timing that tournament has potential but it needs to be run by someone with competence and a know how... the weights should be done where everyone can see the read out on the scale and not hide it like they did as well, I tried to look at the scale the 2nd day, transparency is what builds trust. I don't have a good feeling about placing in the money on this tournament because I know my weight was heavy, I don't know how many weights above and below me were heavy. To be totally honest I wish that they would have gone straight up with 2nd day weights and thrown out the first day, I know it would have pissed off people who got good fish on day 1 but if you can't trust the scale can you be proud of your finish? I do know that some of the teams in the top 50 their weight was legit and they should be even more proud

300SKTR I have fished the Prairie Knights tourney many years and it is a professionally run tournament. The Prairie Knights and Big Muddy are run by people who fish. I won't name any names but he is very good at what he does and has a great volunteer staff. Having a big tournament I believe you need a group of people who have fished a tourney and have to be willing not to compete which I'm sure is very hard. When he does fish a tourney he is in the top and currently won the DWC. I feel bad for all fisherman and feel any tournament needs someone who is willing to sit out of the tourney and run it. Remember if a fisherman steps up and runs the tourney please refrain from all the complaining they do it to make everyone happy. Hopefully four bears learned their lesson and get's someone who can run a tourney.

Devils Lake Casino Tourney in June isnt perfect; but overall a pretty well run event.

The worst decisions seem to surround bad weather and still sending us out. No problems with loading/unloading, rules meeting, or weigh-in.

They make sure that you take 2 pictures from the same side of fish. One on ruler, one in hero shot. I think, upon close observation, you could tell if something is fishy. <--- see what I did there?

"Realistically -- especially in lakes with same classes -- how do they keep em from cheating on this?"

Don't try this at an AIM event. AIM will catch anyone trying to cheat in this way every time. We have a very rigorous technical system that we use to analyze our fish pictures and all fish of similar lengths are compared to each other. Realize that every fish is as unique as a fingerprint. Scale patterns tell the tale. It takes us just a few seconds of computer time to catch a cheater. We will happily share names of anyone trying to cheat our anglers and system with other tournament organizations.

I believe the "Ultimate Fishing" bass format is the finest tournament structure ever devised. It has close to it all concerning honesty and minimal stress on the fish IMHO.

Major league bass style. Ref in every boat.

I get a little tired of watching bass fishing but that one is exciting. I don't know if my heart could take fishing in that format. The stress of having someone tell you every time a competitor catches a fish. If it wasn't your day and all your competitors were on fish and the scoreboard updates kept coming you might see my temper come out when my boat runs out to the middle of the lake and dumps all the rods and tackle overboard....haha
