deep sea fishing

sounds like a visit to Hawaii is in the making for next January. Will be staying in Honolulu and would like to scratch that saltwater itch while im there. anyone been here and done any fishing? what species would I be likely to target? is it worth the money for private charter or should a guy save a few bills and just go shared?

We went for blue marlin didnt catch any saw a few strikes. caught some mahi mahi and a spear fish that i released with a tag and has been caught of the coast of Australia. It was cool i didnt pay for it though but i would go private if doing it again.
