With seeing all the flashy new rigs out on Lake Sak the past few weekends and hearing "rumors" that the new Ranger's will be powering up with the 620 rated for 300hp and the 621 rated for 350hp, I'm curious what these boats are going to be pushing for speed.

How many HP does a 620 or any 20' glass boat require to gain 1mph of speed?

The rangers with a 250 on them now are doing 58-60mph when propped right, I'm curious what they will do with a 300 hanging on back!

Why not get a plane with pontoons, might be cheaper and you can fish any lake.

300 will gain some, not sure if it will be night and day but should push 70ish consistently with the right set up. Starting to enter scary fast at that point...

Then you are talking a bunch more weight to push around as well going from a V6 to a V8 engine not to mention the extra fuel one will burn and need to carry, the plus is you will lighten the fuel load a whole lot faster pushing the extra weight and running a bigger engine.

As much as I would like to up my pontoon to a 250 which its rated for I love the fuel economy of my 150. Example last weekend Sunday put in at sakakawea state park and bucked the wind and waves west to Indian hills and back about 3k rpms all the way both ways and only used 20 gallons of fuel, I have a 60 gallon tank so long trips are common for us.
