Most things are better to just pay someone to do it right. Carpet tile however is pretty damn slick though and I'd do that myself given a nice squared up job. Maker sure you get at least a few bids on it though. I just recarpeted my business and the highest bid was double what the lowest one was. Went with the lowest and they did a great job, they came recommended also so that helped with the decision as I know the best price isnt always best.

One of my brothers best friends lays carpet. He's a master. He avoids seems at all costs, and has been doing it since the late 70's. There's no way I'd do it myself knowing there's guys out there like him.

If it's just a square bedroom and a closet it wouldn't be to bad. If your going to try and do several room and tie them together I would definatly higher someone. With the cost of carpet these days installation really isn't a big deal.
