So, I'm planning on a trip to Flin Flon-ish in June and would like to have contours of the lake - never been there before - but don't want to shell out $200 for the one trip. Is it possible to share / rent a chip of Canadian lakes, or are they unique to the owner? I understand one would need a chip for all Canadian lakes, and the one for northern section won't cover north of the border. I've searched and found nothing on this site dealing with this topic...

I have a Navionics + chip and it lets me download any lake that I want in the US (and I believe Canada as well). However, I can't go over 4 GB, which is a crap ton of lakes. For example, I have all of ND, about 25% of SD, 25% of MT, and a number of random lakes throughout the US and I'm still not quite at 4 GB. I'm almost positive that you can include Canadian lakes with the same card. If so, I highly recommend it.

There are a lot of Canadian lakes that do not have the contours. The lake by Flin Flon I go to does not have a map. What lake are you going to?

This was an old post – we went to Amisk last June for a few days. I ended up buying a subscription to Navionics so I could download whatever lake/region I wanted, including Canada. The contours were OK, but I recorded my own and saved them for future use. It's all good.

Good to hear I read that on some other site to but I wanted to get from some reliable sources that I can trust.
