A crew of us will be heading to Lake Winnipeg March 5-7. Staying at the Canalta.

If anyone is looking to head up there this winter, it would be fun to have a make-shift gathering.

I might make a couple trips, but this one is in the books for certain.

Let me know if you want to join, or if you are going on another time-frame.

I've caught myself thinking about hard water and Lake Winnipeg the last couple of weeks also. My group may be going about then. Would be a blast to meet up

When we went up the first time a few years ago we hired a guide for 2 days. I'm actually glad we did because the first day was so foggy you couldn't see anything and the second day was basically white out wind conditions. I'm not sure we would have even ventured out without a guide. Its also nice just to kind of get some bearings and learn some access points. Once you have been there though there is really no more need for a guide. Its just run and gun, no specific structure to target.

Where does everyone usually stay? We are planning to go up for our first time at the end of Feb this year but not sure where to stay yet. Any tips appreciated!

PS - leave your shiny overweight fiberglass at home --unless if your willing to take a few shots over the transom.
