As I participate in another season of beet harvest, I wish all a safe and accident free season. A few words of advice....

1. Be careful of power lines in the field while raising the box.
2. Yield to loaded trucks, especially since the rain has made the shoulders soft on gravel roadways.
3. Stay vigilant, as we truck drivers are not the only vehicles using the roadways.
4. For the public, do not pull out in front of an oncoming truck as it takes a half a mile to stop when loaded.

I'm sure there are other words of wisdom out there. I just want everyone to be back on Nodak Angler when it's all over with. Take care everyone.

Mud on pavement is close to if not worse than ice. So when you see the mud on road signs be careful. I have seen many cars and trucks sliding all over the road when they hit the mud brought up out of the fields

2017 Beet Off starts at 5pm saturday for me. Good way to make some extra cash to replace all the jigging raps I tend to lose.

And I'll be on the phone with the state patrol every time I see a truck piled so high the beets are falling over the side

Worst thing I remember from beet driving was the guys falling asleep after driving 4 straight days of 18-20 hours a day in the truck cab trying to make that paycheck as big as possible. Dangerous stuff!! Stay safe Colonel.

This is my 24th beet off. I was 11 when I started driving roto-beeter and 13 when I drove my first load of beets to the piler.

Those darn beets are like rocks when it is cold and with the new cars being so low you might take out your whole underneath if you go over or hit one.
