    Fish houses will all be piled up on the south side of the lake in the cat tails. No snow on slick ice and it's good bye Lucille. Been there and done that. Hope they all stay skids down. Plays hell on good equipment to have a house tip over. Been there and done that too.

    Weird doesn't quite describe this winter so far. If wooly bears had to be colored to predict this winter......black and brown psychedelic tie dyed plaid with inlaid swirls might be close.

    My cynical mind says because the corporations have pork in a choke hold whereas beef still has private producers hanging on giving big corporate the middle finger. My not so cynical mind says because of simple supply and demand. We have the same number of cows today that we had 70 years ago...

    Yeah, I know what you mean NDbowman and I don't blame you for throwing the BS flag. When he told me what he got for them, I was shocked. It's part of why I started this thread. Figured folks might want to know what might be coming on the horizon.

    I like the idea of buying a tag and throwing it away. Lets the average guy who doesn't own land do some good if they want. I know I've spent 30 bucks in a bar more times than I want to think about and didn't do anyone a damn bit of good, including myself. However, not complaining about...

    Don't forget to put 4 cows on each acre of public land. Grass should stay under 2 inches at all times.

    My neighbor sold 3 steers and a heifer angus/holstein crosses for 3500 each at the sale barn a couple months back. Each weighed about 1100 lbs giver take a hundo. Not the best beef cattle so to speak, but I would guess that his profit margin was over 2 grand each. Great for him I say, but WOW...

    If I want grass fed meat, I'll eat venison. Grass fed beef is just a big deer IMO.

    Well.......it's not snow and it's not rain. They're little water filled balls the size of bb's. Damn near dropped a square haybale on my face doing chores this morning when those little bb's turned a snow divet into a winter ambush. My whole yard is a minefield of nasty. Be safe out there...
