Oahe, Smelt, thoughts?

Smoked cisco from Lake Superior is delicious. Would think Oahe smoked cisco would be good also.

Very possible. I always thought a “skipjack” was a golden eye. Could be wrong I guess.

Skipjack and goldeneyes are the same, but much different than ciscos or even whitefish.

Seriously do they taste the same as whitefish or tubilee? Suttle appearance differences but what about the taste?

Has anyone heard anything about smelt running this year?? It's a week away from mid April when they usually run the best. Not sure about Sak. but on OAHE mid April is the general rule. They used to have stories in some of the papers about it but year after year it's been less and less. They could have closed the season for all I know??

Watch for pelicans staging in the shallows and sea-gulls swooping at the water. In the past they'd run really good after a really warm calm day. Good luck.

My friend live scoped all weekend north of town here and didnt find much for bait any where
