I hear the career vs marriage/kids argument from both sides of the aisle and I simply don't understand it. One side says to focus on the career and the other side says focus on the marriage/kids but nobody talks about doing BOTH. Men focus on careers and marriage/kids together, why is it not ok for women to do the same. My wife graduated with multiple degrees, engineering as one of them. When we got married and started having kids, her career never faltered. She is now in a managerial position with a high profile company with military and commercial applications. I couldn't ask for a better mom for our kids so never once did I think that she needs to give up her career because of the kids.

This day and age it's hard for families to make a comfortable living with only one parent working. Is it do able? Yes, but is it comfortable? Most of the time, no.

These women that give up careers for marriage/kids, what do they do after the kids are old enough to go to school? Stay at home? Work some meaningless job because they can't get a good job because they've been out of the work force for some long?

I don’t disagree with you, and I don’t think many here would disagree with you. The original post was not about women working or not, it was highlighting how women (liberal Gen z) don’t value getting married and having kids.

First one to say "You didn't have to click on it" wins a neat prize!

Quite the topic. Makes me feel good to be old school. It was easy back in the day. Been married for 47 years , when we got to know each other well we both agreed this is getting serious. We were both farm kids who grew up with nothing and there was no pretending to be something that we weren't. We married young , I was 20 and she was 19. We communicated well and laid out our life when we were dating and set goals together . Kids and all . we both pulled hard to make it happen. We raised two boys and we gave them a lot of responsibility and we both set good examples. It worked out . Communications before you get married is most important. And being honest with each others what your goals in life are. My 2 cents worth is more aimed at first timers. opening communications wide open is golden. Maybe I was lucky but I dated and got to know others who I knew I didn't want to spend the rest of my life with and didn't waste much time moving on.

but what many people want is largely influenced by social factors...
It especially influences the weak willed. All these things are self solving. These people not having kids and the ones killing their kids before they are born will like the dinosaurs pass into oblivion.

I do believe that people should do what they want, but for years feminist have shamed women for having kids. So who is it really who tells people what to do?

I can relate to Davy C. My wife and I have been married 55 years in a few weeks. Dated for five years before that. We had three boys. Having kids in sum total is great, but having to chew their behind as teens is tough and when they leave home is tougher because you miss them always.

our current welfare state is a direct result of feminism... women will always vote for whatever makes their lives easier, no fault divorce, abortions, and "free stuff" fits right into that narrative.

Fantastic story and congrats to you and your wife! If people spent half the time planning their marriage as they do planning their wedding, our world would be in a better place.

Democrats intentionally and misguidedly took the husband/father out the women's lives, they replaced it with the social programs, telling women they don't need a man or father, the government can take care of you. Guess why the prisons are full of fatherless criminals. Turns out fathers are needed, and a check and free shit is not the same.

Lunker, I believe it was you who posted a video of a fellow with a mic asking on streets to young men if we (society) need women? Every young man to a T answered yes, we need females.

Then they asked young females if they need men. Uppity no.

Now would be a good time for that video.

communists' first goal is to weaken family ties - breed lots of gov't cheese dependent red shirts for the movement

these people are evil and must be opposed - and mocked openly and loudly
when people are on their 3rd and 4th generation of welfare suckwads, its a huge problem.
