Same here at the Fort. Windows fogged over half way up and the grass looks like it's crying. Going to be a real uncomfortable outside. Stay Safe Folks. Heat injuries suck.

What humidity? It’s too slow to keep up.

I’m going to see how far I can ride it today. I could die.

Ps: it’s totally worth it! 😎

Anyone that thinks being a flagman on a highway crew is an easy job, think about what a day like today must be like standing on black asphalt with no shade holding a metal slow sign.
To add to the fact it’s completely mind numbing. I had to fill in for one of the dirt bags when they didn’t show up for an hour and wanted to step in front of traffic. I don’t feel bad for most of them as that’s the top of there ability and don’t want to do any thing else. We have tried moving them up and it’s just to much for them to handle even driving a pilot car.

Years ago there was road construction on highway 13 between Wyndmere and I29 . A friend of mine got his wife a job flagging and every time I had to go to Wahpeton I would stop at the Tasty Freeze and get her a large blueberry malt and drop it off on the way. Her co-workers could not figure out how all of a sudden she would be having a cold malt in her hands. LB

No truer words can be spoken. I've watched and had to help some 40-50 heat injuries. Training in MOPP4 is no joke during a Japan, Philippine's, or Thailand exercise during their summer months.

That being said, I was surprised at how "not miserable"
I was outside today. I painted some shelves for the storage unit and was out in the heat for 6-7 hours. It was a dry heat following a morning fog/High RH..

I’d say that a relatively generalized assessment for a very large group of people. It may be a common trait, but is never absolute. I get as frustrated as anyone trying to recruit help.

That’s over 24 years of dealing with flaggers I can count on one hand how many have ever not just been a flagger when given the opportunity to move up. That’s not including college kids doing it a summer job.

Flaggers are provided by the primary contractor or are they subcontracted out? I have no idea.
They each have to provide there own for what ever process is happening unless the sub spells it out in the contract that the prime has to do it.

Heat stroke is no joke!! I was hauling square bales in my teens and being indestractable at that age, i just sucked it up and kept throwing bales. It was over ninety degrees and I didn’t have enough water with me. When the dizziness and dry heaves hit me it was over. that was over 30 years ago and to this day I can’t take heat. Once I start sweating hard I need to cool off quick. it seems like it’s a life long affliction.
