    Do soybeans kill birds?

I’ve shot quite a few pheasants and grouse in and along soybean fields and they had a crop full of them. So in a roundabout way I guess you could say soybeans were their demise.

    Pheasant Opener

Time will tell, but all of the standing crops may be what saves a lot of pheasants that would have been flattened otherwise.

    youth bows

I have two girls who have shot the smaller "toy" bows for awhile now but want to get more serious into archery. They will both be joining a youth league in January and I'd like to get them each a decent youth bow to start and possibly shoot for quite awhile. I'm looking for something affordable...

    anybody bird hunting

The way I understand it, while they excel and hunting in water and on land, they are just not structurally as sound for the twists and turns of upland hunting. I don't think its a genetic thing. Some breeds are just set up better physically for that type of activity than others. My lab tore...

    anybody bird hunting

Unfortunately, this is pretty common with labs that hunt upland birds. Happened to my last lab and I just got a new lab puppy so I will probably end up going through it again. Almost without fail when you hear about this it is a lab. They are just such damn good dogs though.once you’ve had one...

    Cleaning Fish

When there are laws like this with apparent room for discretion, it's usually not worth the risk to leave yourself open to a penalty IMO. I just zipper them at home before I vac-seal them or cook them, or if I have already vac-sealed them, just zipper them after you thaw them.

Regardless of your decision, thank you for not starting a Go Fund Me page like everyone else seems to do for everything these days.

    Dog with torn ACL

I had a lab who tore her ACL when she was 2 1/2 years old. This was in September 2006. I went ahead with TPLO surgery. The dog had to miss that hunting season but was all of 100% recovered once spring rolled around. I was told there was a good chance her 2nd one would go eventually. It finally...

    Ticks are Out...already

I see them all fall into October where I hunt birds but they are the smaller sesame seed sized deer ticks at that time rather than the dog ticks/wood ticks you find in spring and summer. Some of the birds i shoot are full of them bedded into their neck.

    Apple tree insecticide?

One more question...Some of our trees are getting to that 20 foot tall range and are difficult to reach with what we use. I'm curious if you (or anyone else on here) have recommendations for good sprayer options for tall, broad trees. Thanks again.

    Apple tree insecticide?

How many times a year do you spray your fruit trees with the Dawn dish soap mixture? Do you use any chemical sprays in between your Dawn treatments? Is there any downside that you are aware of to using the Dawn dish soap treatment. This is the first time I've heard of it and I would prefer...

Zebra Mussels Discovered in Lake Ashtabula

They should be able to quickly throw the list together of all fisheries that received fish from this hatchery over the past few years and start the search for mussels. I read another article where the adults found were estimated to be 18 months old so they are thinking they've been in Ashtabula...

Zebra Mussels Discovered in Lake Ashtabula

Looking at past stocking reports, they have moved a lot of fish from this location to other lakes over the years. I can't imagine they are using a different water supply other than from the lake and river they just called infected with ANS, and I think it's pretty obvious that lake has been...

Zebra Mussels Discovered in Lake Ashtabula

Adults can live out of water for a week, so even if one follows all of the recommended procedures, it's still pretty easy to see how someone who regularly enjoys different bodies of water for fishing or boating could unknowingly spread these. I agree with a few posters who have said the spread...

    Apple tree insecticide?

Those are Cankerworms...more commonly called inchworms. They will completely defoliate huge areas of trees and are really bad in our creek bottom land for the third year in a row now. They go in cycles I guess...2 to 7 really bad years and then up to 15 years where they are hardly noticeable...

Archery Test for City Bow Hunt

We are obviously missing some info here or something has been misunderstood. Where are you getting your info? You do NOT have to pass a test to shoot at the Bismarck range, regardless of your age. If you have to pass a proficiency test to enter some sort of class, then it is obviously not a...
