    The bad thing about fatting up a steer is it take 14 to 15 month to get them up to butcher size. Where a hog takes about 5 months. I put the feed to Hog hard for the whole time and finish them off with apples and plums and sweet corn for the last month. It is the best pork I have ever made.

    I have maybe 10 or 12 different knives. The one I grab most is a Buck 119. They hold a good edge and with the finest grit belt on my Worksharp sharpener I can shave the hair off my arms.

    I seen them many years ago, when we were pass shooting Sandhill cranes. They were coming off Horsehead lake up by Steele. There was a Federal warden on the road when we go back to the pickup. He looked at are birds and asked if we seen them come off, and we did.

    I picked this up last week. 1966 F100 with a 390 Im going to leave it stock. Get it running and brakes, I have the original hub caps will be putting them on. The pickup came with a 352 and 3 speed on the column. They took it out and put 390 in it. The floor shifter is from a 1970 Mustang.

    The thing with a Smelt fry is, they batter them up and drop in the 350 degree oil. After about two batches the oil has cooled down to 310 degrees or so and it cant recover fast enough and they dont cook all the way. Then they taste like bait or bad fish.
