    Buying a new gun..Dilemma

No, the lack of anything worth while on tv drive me there often, and my reloading usually can't keep up with my shooting. What got me ahead this year was severe arthritis. I couldn't walk much last winter, then had to recover from both knees replaced. For the last month I have been making up...

    Buying a new gun..Dilemma

I have 200 rounds loaded with VLDs and H4350 and maybe 400 rounds loaded with ELD-X. I hate to pull that many bullets and throw away that much powder. I am getting 2875 fps with those loads so I guess I'll just shoot them up. Should be able to empty them by February. It's tough to load the...

    Buying a new gun..Dilemma

Ok Kurtr this is for you. Last night I loaded up some 140 ELD-M. One with 46gr, one with 47gr, and five with 48gr. I didn't go higher because I wanted to be kind to my brass. Well the 46 gr and my chrono said error. Crap. So I realigned and here are some pics.Setting for 814yd 8 inch steel.

If they don't care about the people in their district they must be pulling a Biden. Time to drain the Bismarck swamp.

    DIY European Mount

I use a half cup borax and a spoon of Dawn soap simmered for eight hours in a stainless pot. A good shake and the lower jaw drops off and the eyes fall out. All the meat falls off too. Then I put a loop in the end of a heavy wire and insert into my cordless drill. Push that into the skull...

If this R26 is as great as they say I have 600 rounds loaded with 41.5 gr H4350 that I have to shoot up. Oh darn.

    Buying a new gun..Dilemma

lol ya having fun with you. It is Reloaded 26. Tough to find. They say like Federal Match primers a year ago, the industry is buying it up. It's like finding gold. I scored two pounds today. I'll post up how it works for me. I have 390 brass once fired, neck turned to .013, neck sized to...

    Buying a new gun..Dilemma

I am going for about 2950 which should give me very long brass life and all the velocity I want. This velocity with low pressures should also extend barrel life.

    Buying a new gun..Dilemma

I have a 6.5x284 that pushes a 140gr to 3050 + or -. Now on longrangehunter I find a powder that lets me get a 140gr to 3056 out of a 24 inch barrel Creedmoor. It gets better every day. Did I post that before? Maybe having a senior moment here. I don't want another of those bad reps that...

    Shame on you hunters

You could be right. Either way there are people trying to get their hands on it. If you are right then sportsmen and ranchers better stick together and not let the American Land Council and Farm Bureau separate us. Edit: Either way sticking together is a good idea because much of the urban...

That's not true. The American Land Council advocates selling off public land. Ask a Farm Bureau person where they stand on that issue. I thought for a while I would have to vote for Cruz for president, but thank God Trump won because Cruz was for selling off public land. Don't try convince...

    Shame on you hunters

I'm sure that's it for some of the proponents of auto posting, but in that same vein the outfitters and guides like it too. Not unlike how happy gun shops were when the 1968 gun law passed. No longer could you order a rifle for yourself from a catalog like we had before. We had to go to a...

I haven't seen what that nut job has been up to. Is he still copying pages from here to run like a little boy to the legislature? I sort of had the feeling I still live in his head.

No he had one of these signs. I run into both that day and don't remember which is which, or maybe both were his. He sure like to rub our nose into how many elk he has shot and we only get one chance. Nothing compared to Montana though. I have seen abandon all hope yee who enter here...

Also the permits they get to shoot elk because they are eating their hay or whatever damage they are claiming. Don't cow elk cause damage too? Specify cow elk only for depredation permits. I talked with one rancher bragging about the six huge bulls their family has shot. The same rancher...

    Buying a new gun..Dilemma

Yours and my Creedmoor Kurt. My 270 with R22 kicks out a Berger VLD at 3070 fps. Right out of the Barmes manual. I have not shot my 270 for a couple of years, but it's a great gun. I agree with you bigv. I have a 6.5x284 that pushes the 143 ELD-X at 3030 fps which beats the new magic 6.5...

    Buying a new gun..Dilemma

Crap that's where my money is going. I shoot over 1000 rounds a year out of my Creedmoors. I bought a couple of 308s because I was wearing out my old 300 mag shooting 500 rounds a year through it. Prairie dogs really pop with a 300 mag. You guys may think I am joking about these things. I...

    Buying a new gun..Dilemma

For 600 yards stick with a production rifle, and you have many choices of cartridges. For $800 the Kimber Hunter is tempting as is the Tikka light weight. Stay under $1000 and spend the money you save on a good scope.
