    Pheasant Recipes

I use it for stir fry. Cook the pheasant with a little hoisin sauce and onions. Dump in vegetables and cook til tender. Pile on white or brown rice.

    Pike tip up baits

The small minnow on the treble below the smelt is a great idea. I will implement that this year. Lunker, throw the smelt/herring on your dash on the way to your fishing spot. Just make sure there isn't a hole in the bag.

    3" shells for Pheasant

first off, I'm from North Dakota so I don't have an O/U. :::. I will keep a 3" as the third shell. Mainly just use 2 3/4" 4 shot. I guess I use the 3" when the bird gets way out there and I need a little more power....

    Pike tip up baits

I usually use the biggest smelt I can find. Haven't tried hot dogs before. Either way, I'll catch a northern by accident more times than on purpose.

    Rifle Season 2015

Hey, I like many different kinds of beers, including stella. But to go against what I was raised on, is just wrong. Plus they came out with a new can this fall and its hunting themed. Where's stellas art department? oh yeah, busy smelling a baguette and playing mime. - - - Updated - - -...

whistles vs. voice vs. TT collar vs....???

Ole koda doesn't get zapped very often. She hears the beep and she does an about face very quickly. I have the remote clipped on to the vest so I can use my forearm hand to hit the beeper if need be. Any voice command that is spoken louder than a conversation-level voice, it's LEAVE IT...

whistles vs. voice vs. TT collar vs....???

They may not spook birds but I whistles are friggen annoying. I have to wear and use one every weekend from November to March. As was said before, my gsp will hunt just fine unless with a big group or other dogs. She needs a good run before the first walk of the day but unfortunately, we only...

whistles vs. voice vs. TT collar vs....???

Well, my parents just bought a new one at menards on Friday. They realized they lost their charger for the new one they bought the previous year so they needed a replacement. I can't remember the name but I'll have it in a day or two. Has vibrate, beep and shock.

whistles vs. voice vs. TT collar vs....???

I really like the vibrating and beeping collar for getting the dog back. Unfortunately I trained her as voice (first warning), beep (second warning), small small shock (final result). She responds well to woah and leave it, as long as the collar is one. If she jail breaks the house she has...

    Not buying fiocchi shells again

Been shooting the pheasant max plus 2 3/4" 1 3/8oz. Haven't had a problem. Except with aiming. That was a problem.

The Great Windstorm of October 2015

Read the forecast before hunting. They nailed it on the wind starting at noon. Noon bell rang and I was walking at a 45 degree angle back to the pickup.

    Ready for Action!

I hit the glacial lakes a couple times throughout the winter. I usually leave a steamy curl out on the ice and I sign it "KurtR - west river rules"

    Ready for Action!

I have orange on my vest. I think it's tough to find a vest without orange anymore. However, I don't wear this stuff the day before season.

The non-resident pheasant hunters are anyway. Five dude hanging out in the hotel parking lot next to my office. Brush pants: check. Orange hat: check. Shooting glasses: double check.

    DLVFD Tournament/Raffle

Pretty much nailed it, Guy. Looks to be completely dependent on ambient temperature but seems to reduce the ability for the body to adjust high or low. I believe it needs to be tested in the field. Juan, Guy and I will send a bottle of canadian mist and a thermometer. Please report the results.

    DLVFD Tournament/Raffle

I think it's against the rules but I witnessed more than a few season vets slipping a flask out of their inside pocket. The young group behind us didn't hesitate to pull out the bottle of fireball.
