We had lots of propane but only one or maybe two torches. We mostly used smudge pots under the mud gauge and standpipe valves to keep to them thawed out or anywhere we needed a little heat. Worst part was scrubbing the soot off the winterizing in the spring when it warmed up.

    Gas Powered Ice Augers

I remember an older Northern fisherman who would go out a ways away from his setup and run a big circle around it smacking the ice with the blunt end of an axe. He said it got the fish moving and he claimed that he caught more fish that way. I laughed at the time but secretly I've been...

    Hunting accident

I look at discussion about Murdock as a celebration of his Life. Nothing more, Nothing less. He was a fun guy who liked to joke around and have fun and will be missed by many.

    Grain Bin accident

Trying to store grain that is too wet is a disaster waiting to happen. and those silo type steel grain bins were invented back in horse and buggy days and serve only one purpose. If I were a big farmer I'd spend my grain storage money on Quonset type buildings and push the grain to the auger...

    State Legislator committees

Its nice to have sessions online, I've been watching a few here and there on issues of interest and I think we should be paying more attention and give credit and criticism where due and vote accordingly. It seems like our only resource for recourse.

    AIM Weekend Series 2021

I agree. By late July on most years they go on ice if we keep them. Could just as well make anglers put them put the fish on ice and donate the fish to non profits to have benefit fish fries.

    Any rock hounds ?

It sort of looks like petrified wood but hard to tell . I was hoping to find some pictures that I saw earlier that had petrified wood with fossils that resemble the one you posted but can't find it. That website even had some old ship wreck wood with sea shells and other fossils that had been...

    Any rock hounds ?

The Oak creek runs through our farm and I have dug around there a few times over the years but I couldn't find any gold or even any good looking black sand. We recently got a metal detector and I was going to try detecting on the creek bottom last fall but the beaver had built a dam and...
