    What are these hooks for?

It must be in the hook design why Northerns always come in to the head of the smelt with these hooks. My dad could sit in our old wooden fish house for hours looking down the hole and watch fish and I had no choice but to do the same because any little noise would spook them. It depended on...

    What are these hooks for?

you can't swim and your blaming it on the water. - - - Updated - - - The way my Dad taught me was to wait until the bobber is down 6 inches and set the hook hard and haul them in fast. If you let up on the tension the fish will swim away. - - - Updated - - - most of the time as soon as...

    Walleye Rod Setups

Jaykay's post about bright green line for his ability to see it led me to a question. Has anyone played around with different line colors on sunny and overcast days and does it seem to affect the bite at all ? Thinking of my color coated lead core line, Do fish have enough brains to shy...

    Coal Creek

This is a question. Back in the early 80s when my bride and I were making babies there were all sorts of public awareness announcements and bulletins about high mercury content in Devils lake fish and breast feeding moms and children should limit devils lake fish intake. I believe the theory...

Awesome LB , I will report back . Thanks again. We never tried them when I was a kid so I am trying to figure it out as I go. Another thing I want to try just for the fun of it is peanuts , We had an old timer that used to grow them . I tried a couple years ago but I just used Spanish...

    What are these hooks for?

My Dad always called them Norwegian hooks. It's the only thing I ever use with smelt , In from the side of the tail and push the barbed end into the head so it will poke out of the skull when you set the hook . Only problem is that the Giant Rainbow smelt are getting hard to find around here...

    Garden!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Thank you LB , I'll try that this year and hopefully in the end I'll be able to post a picture of watermelon wine. I've tried the tire trick but it takes just the perfect year up here I think , It could be that I don't fertilize enough too as they seem to grow fast early on and then they...

LBrandt do you start them inside and transplant ? They like it warm so this year I'm going to try putting fabric down and see if that helps. If I ever get a crop I wanna try making some watermelon wine. Has anyone ever made it or tasted it ?

Is it because of the design that there is no talk of retrofitting it to fire on NG ? I read where they are going to convert the Spiritwood plant over to gas. I'm guessing it must not be feasible or it would be a no brainer.

Wish I could help Dean but all I have to offer is moral support. I know this helpless feeling you speak of, We haven't visited my Mom in over two months and it's not looking good for the near future. She is 99 and can't hear so phone calls are impossible , Sadly she reads the Minot paper...

    Metigoshe State Park

LOL awesome story , Only in ND is right. Last summer there were 3 moms and 3 little kids that couldn't have been much older that 4 or 5 years old at the boat dock in the state park , The kids had sticks for rods and about 3 feet of line and a bare hook tied on and they were snatching...

db. Don't hang that bow up for a year. You deserve a deer license just as much as the next guy whether you hunt hard or carry that bow just to feel like are a hunter. It's those that get two or more license per year that I feel should give others a chance to enjoy a hunt too. I'm...

It might be worth it to take the scenic byway , The old castle that I posted on here a while back is along that route. There is usually some wildlife to look at if nothing else. https://www.ndtourism.com/best-places/5-things-see-turtle-mountain-scenic-byway

db, I was going to pass on posting my opinion but what the heck , I'll throw in my 2 cents worth. I'll address the question " what current rule benefits a bow hunter at the expense of others" ? My answer to that question isn't a popular one on this site but I'm not going to change my...
