    Baffin Boots

So how do the Schnees differ from say a Sorel pack boot? It appears they have a felt insole and some sort of thermal liner.

    Thanks. Appreciate the information.

    Thanks

I was thinking the other day, as I clicked through the site, this place is really enjoyable. No fights, no trolls running their mouth, etc. We have a good range of outdoor related threads and lots of threads to make us laugh and relax, which is why we are all here. Several people have changed...

    Baffin Boots

You gave them a try and did you like them? Who had them for $60

I don't know either....I'm hoping my chew can will fit in there.

    Baffin Boots

I'm going to pull the trigger on a set of Baffins pac boos for this winter's activities. Questions for those who have them.... Can you drive a pickup while wearing them? Will a set of ice cleats fit over them? Which style/model to buy?

    shooting VLD's

Tikka's seem to be long throated. Mine had an extra 3/16th of free bore space in it when I went to SST's. My OAL has my clip maxed out. If you want to shoot cloverleafs, put a good stock on it. Bell and Carlson makes one for Tikkas.

    shooting VLD's

Not to highjack the thread but, Ghost...does form-fired brass need headspace adjustment? Just curious?

    shooting VLD's

Yep...do you have an OAL gauge? That is the first thing I would check. - - - Updated - - - Here.... http://bulletin.accurateshooter.com/2009/03/berger-tips-for-loading-vld-bullets/

This will be "The making of the NDA calendar" video in a few years. Way better than those dog models they use on the other site.

Which New Truck Do I Need?

I check into this before my research too. Just an FYI, the Tundra is made in Texas, the engine is made in USA as are 75% of the rest of the truck. That's more than Chevy/GMC and Ram. http://www.cheatsheet.com/automobiles/the-8-most-american-trucks-for-2014.html/?a=viewall

Which New Truck Do I Need?

I was in the same position as you 6 months ago. I did a lot of research on resale value and quality vs options offered. I settled on a Tundra after driving an F150 for 11 years. I kept the F150. The Tundra is the leader in resale value and very high on quality. You get decent bells and whistles...

    Calling all Czech and Bohemians

You are exactly correct! We would get Laddies (L&M) from time to time and it is good, but not quite the same. If you could find a recipe that would be great, I want to learn to make it as my boys like to make sausage and I'm hoping to make some over Thanksgiving when they are home. I'm hoping...

    Soaking Meat in Fridge

Over my years of guiding, I have handled thousands of pheasants. There are two reasons people soak birds. 1) To help remove any areas of blood clots, feathers, and shot that may be in the meat, this generally only takes less than an hour of soaking to prep them for cleaning and packaging. 2) To...

    Calling all Czech and Bohemians

I did see that one. Thanks. There are several recipies out there and the difference between them depends on where the immigrants came from. The one I remember I think used bread and maybe rice or barley, and way more garlic and spices. You would eat it and your skin would stink for 2-3...

    Calling all Czech and Bohemians

Growing up mom's side of the family had a good jaternice (pronounced itherniza) recipie. It's pork/liver/garlic/majoram/rice or bread.....Anyway, mom can't seem to find the original recipie. Any of you Walsh County area folks have a recipie laying around you're willing to share?

You guys ever eat road kill?

Great post! Watched a pheasant skip off the windshield of a car in front of us on a fly-fishing trip. Took it back to camp and cooked it over the fire.

whistles vs. voice vs. TT collar vs....???

I've been in your boat. Our dog was collar trained. He is very rangy until he tires, which in the winter can be later in the day. The beep/vibrate is a nice option once they know who is in charge. I don't think you are ever to late to switch to the collar. They get smart in a hurry when you put...

The Great Windstorm of October 2015

Just brutal. The only upside is the MPG monitor in the yota was pegged at 30 for most of the trip coming home from out west last night.

heated or not heated is the question

My experience with boots that fail to keep feet warm is that they lack two things: 1) a non-conductive insole. Conductive insoles allow the heat in your foot to escape through the sole of the boot. Find a good pair of cold weather insoles, I've had good luck with the $25 Danner insoles. 2) A...
