    National Grasslands

:;:cheersI will readily admit I have an agenda or two, or three. Conserve our public lands for future generations. Preserve out constitution, especially the second amendment. Secure the future of hunting for the next generation. I could go on, but you get the point. I hope I didn't come off as...

    Direct Payments to farmers/ranchers

We got 1/2 inch here yesterday. Surprised how fast a lawn can turn green again. I seen that rain headed your way on the radar Kurt.

How many of you would still bowhunt if you could not bait?

You forgot tie dye. It's the only good things the hippies taught us. I bough tan pants tied them in as many knots as possible and dropped them into a pot of brown die. Not bad for home made camo. :;:cheers I was happy when they came out with those tabs that had the chunk of rubber between...

    Direct Payments to farmers/ranchers

I have heard John Deer donates equipment. Don't know if that's right. Thanks for posting that Fritz. It was in the Jamestown Sun about ten days ago. That paper is in the trash already and I couldn't find the information anywhere else so I just kept my mouth shut. Payments are based on...

    Direct Payments to farmers/ranchers

I couldn't get to the full report for some reason. I am surprised if USGS made the top of the list. I would have expected an agency that enforced regulation, had management responsibility, or was involved in some sort of enforcement. Not an agency that provides information. When I asked...

    Direct Payments to farmers/ranchers

Zog would you still buy new equipment if the depreciation cost twice what your taxes we're? Would you still buy it if the payments were twice as much as your taxes and you knew you couldn't make the payments? Would you commit business suicide to spite those bureaucrats? Edit: I'm not...

How many of you would still bowhunt if you could not bait?

I would. That's the way I started bow hunting and shot my first deer in 1960. I still hunt with a longbow some days. I like it all, compound, longbow, primitive muzzleloader, tactical rifle. One year when I injured my shoulder I tried to talk the Game and Fish into a permit for a spear. No...

    Direct Payments to farmers/ranchers

Yes I am familiar with the practice I'm simply surprised someone would spend until it endangers their business simply to withhold it from taxes. My mother would say some people would cut off their nose to spite their face.

    Best archery target?

Same for me. Roll it on its back, put a foot on it and pull with both hands. The Block works well for me. I got the Reinhart out of the lawnshed the other day and after cooking in there for four years the arrows pull easier.

    Direct Payments to farmers/ranchers

When we went to Sakakawea a few days ago I talked with a ranch lady who's husband and kids were haying north west of Devils Lake. We are in bad drought here in Jamestown too, but not as bad as north of Sakakawea.

    Direct Payments to farmers/ranchers

A couple years ago our local grocery store got in trouble for purchasing milk in Minnesota. NAFTA perhaps solved the wheat thing. I remember farmers wanting it, then when they found out which direction the wheat was going they threw a fit. They were on the North Dakota/Canadian border...

How many of you would still bowhunt if you could not bait?

I don't bait either. I do feed deer in my yard. Since it's impossible to keep them out my reasoning is if I feed them they will not eat so many of my wife's flowers.

this cop has a really bad day

I think I would have blindly ripped one half off as I staggered around with no sight. At least that would have been my story. Either that or a smack up side the head, trying to control the perp of course. I'm sure my stalker will not understand this is humor.

    Direct Payments to farmers/ranchers

On the other hand I know a couple of smart old bachelors who passed away a few years ago that had nearly two million each off a section of land each. They overwintered down in Arizona every winter for the past 35 years. Stopped cattle in the 1940's and went grain. I remember the one saying...

    Direct Payments to farmers/ranchers

Trying to avoid taxes during the good years sounds like my cousin purchasing the biggest combine John Deer makes at Christmas. Not much need that time of year, but he said if he didn't buy it then the bast(**&^ds in Washington would get it. He wasn't afraid of paying some taxes he was afraid...

Twice in one week my nephew was assisting a female cop with a perp that was resisting arrest. She pepper sprayed him in the face both timed.

    Direct Payments to farmers/ranchers

No just the ones I am talking about. I realize things are dryer the further west you go. I kind of agree with Johnr on this. I just have an aversion to some people pay in while other draw out. They should have socked some into the bank during the good years. If the years are all bad maybe...

    Direct Payments to farmers/ranchers

Relatives the age of my kids have new toy haulers, deck boats, and new trucks to pull them. How bad is it really? I am happy for them, but are they in trouble? Can't be or they wouldn't be spending the way they do.

    4C Mule Deer

Absolutely. There is one alternative to the story. He could have started an outfitting business on the side. I have been hunting that area since 1978. One guy on Government Creek was good until he started an outfitting business. My ears are not that bad and I was having coffee with this...
