    garden hose - start on the "downhill" side so you always have full drainage (so water never ponds - thus can't go back up and then under shingles above them) house water is ~45F at its coldest - still melts ice surprisingly quickly you could just eat a few channels in key places if you've got...

    Yes - scary is right. As broken pointed out - CO is "stickier" than O2, starts to clog up the carrying sites on your hemoglobin until there aren't enough left to keep you alive. Even after you stop exposure it takes time for the sticky CO to slowly dislodge and allow O2 to be carried again...
