    Big Muddy

The issue is not the entire fishery crashing. It is about improving opportunities to catch big fish. It's great now. It could be even better if more big fish were released rather than killed for a leaderboard when they would have been released otherwise. The discussion is not about keeping fish...

    Big Muddy

Most people angling for this shared resource enjoy catching big fish. It takes a walleye 10-20 years to get really big. Sending 100 boats into prime spawning grounds on one of the only water bodies in the state that has successful natural reproduction for walleyes immediately following the spawn...

    New Rapala R12 Fillet Knife

Just saw the new cordless on sale at Scheels for $130 thru April 18. Still expensive but $30 off what it was

    Big Muddy

About time. Putting a big one on the wall is one thing. Keeping a limit of eaters is another thing. Killing a pile of big fish for a tournament is just plain wasteful.

    Boat Batteries

They're easy to remove and replace. Typically just 4 phillips head screws holding the tray down. Go with the TH Marine tray with metal buckle. They are solid and easily adjusted to make perfectly tight. https://thmarinesupplies.com/products/battery-holder-tray-with-stainless-buckle The plastic...

Fort Rice - Morton County and NDGF

Thanks again Carpin for the heads up on park board meeting. I tuned in and Tim said docks went in this morning. Better late than never but will be calling to see if they can do better. I know we had that October cold snap scare but the dock was out way too long last fall as well.

    Boat Batteries

I just went down the rabbit hole on this one. Ultimately decided to stick with Interstate flooded lead acid deep cycles. I considered switching to AGM to get away from having to check fluid levels. One problem is that while my on board smart charger can charge AGM batteries properly, the...

Fort Rice - Morton County and NDGF

The dock was still not in at Fort Rice ramp as of 3/22/2021. This is unacceptable. Bismarck docks have been in for over two weeks. Danger of ice damage in Fort Rice area has not been a factor for well over a week. County road crew was down there crack sealing last week. They couldn't have taken...

    used boat prices

I'd worry more about buying a motor with 20 hours on it. You think the guy spent the first 10 hours following the break-in procedure knowing he's getting another new one next year? The offshore guys run 2500-3500 hours before repowering. 700 is nothing if you take care of it. Evinrude powered...

    Upgrades

Had almost that same boat and put a 60" on the bow. Unless you don't plan to fish in the usual 2 ft chop, definitely go with the 72" if you can. I've never wished I had less shaft... And on board charger that does all the batteries is a must.

    Trim Cylinder Leak

Option 1: Use the web to find the seal kit and buy if available. Take everything apart and put back together. Option 2: Take everything apart and take the old rings to Dakota Fluid Power and ask them to find close fits. Option 3: Call Boat Works in Mandan and get an appointment. Russ is the...

    New Rapala R12 Fillet Knife

Shorthairs, it's my understanding that only happens if the wrong charger is used, and that is certainly not unique to that device. Same reason you can't put a lithium in a vexilar without switching the charging system as well.

Thanks for the review, Captain. Looking forward to hearing more after you put it to some fish.

    New Rapala R12 Fillet Knife

The first time I saw the Rapala electric being used I thought "how wasteful, surely that is not as efficient as a sharp knife". I couldn't have been more wrong. I get more meat, less bones, all the cheeks and sometimes the "wings", and I'm done and out of the way at the cleaning station much...

    New Rapala R12 Fillet Knife

Looked at these in Scheels the other day. New design was almost as eye catching as the $160 sticker. Interested to hear feedback or see one at a cleaning station this spring. Blade release and trigger lock mechanisms completely redesigned which is great as those are the weak points on the old...

    Tamapa Bay, Fl- Charter Reccomendations

Tampa area is one of my favorites in Florida. Look up Travis at Instinct Fishing and/or Jason at Steady Action. Friend has done inshore charters with both of them and highly recommends. If they're booked, they can probably point to another good option. Public pier, bridge and shore fishing is a...
