That blows. I thought you grew the stuff out thattaway??? I think the cheapest I've seen is $1.94 at Fleet Farm.

    Do not call list

We haven't had a landline since 2012, and I still get random telemarketers, robo calls and survey calls at least 3 times a week on my cell phone.

    Coot! crows of the swamp~

If you want your cringe for the day, try to sit through this entire video of "Cooking with Coots Unlimited." I only made it to the 2 minute mark:

    Holy License $$$ Batman

Oh I think it's still a bargain compared to other states. I'm just saying...when you're used to paying, what, 80 bucks or something like that for the whole shebang and it almost doubles in one year, that's quite a jump! But yes, I agree...for what we get to do here, it's hard to argue!

    Holy License $$$ Batman

Man, I the last time I spent $150 on hunting licenses I was a student at UND and it was before they had nonresident reciprocity. Just realized that I'd yet to renew my hunting/fishing licenses for the year. So went online and ticked the little boxes. Combination, yup...early Canada goose...

    Coot! crows of the swamp~

That sounds like something a Sconi would say.... :;: I've never thought of enhancing my water spread with anything other than more duck decoys. And even then, I think the most I've ever put out was five dozen. Otherwise it's a dozen or less for me (plus a spinner). Then again, I don't hunt...

    Coot! crows of the swamp~

That got me thinking: Have any of you actually shot a coot in the air? I think I've either water-swatted or got them on the run every time, but I've never seen them fly more than 100 yards before plopping back down. God, are they stupid, ugly birds. We should call them Hillary birds, given the...

    Olympics

Saw an article somewhere saying you only needed to consume a tablespoon of the water to get one of those antibiotic-proof super-viruses. Good luck athletes! Next to the medal count there may need to be a death toll, too. I kind of thought the players who dropped out already were...

    Coot! crows of the swamp~

And from what I've been able to tell, my dogs enjoy retrieving coot just as much as anything else. On a slow morning, they can really break up the boredom.

    Coot! crows of the swamp~

One time, back in the oughts when I was in college, a buddy and I were scouting. Game down a dirt road that had a telltale ND slough hugging either side. Couldn't quite make out what was in the middle -- looked like a big dead moose or something. As we drove closer, discovered it was about 50...

I should clarify that I personally do NOT think commodity and farm insurance programs should be eliminated. I see their benefits, and I know farmers and ranchers would be hard pressed to make a living these days without them. HOWEVER, the moment a farmer starts complaining about a program that...

C'mon GST...nobody said anything about enough. I'm just stating facts. I think SD had a high of 1.5 million acres of CRP enrolled in the mid 2000s. So there's been a loss of more than a half million acres. And when 2 out of 727 offers are accepted totaling 101 acres of a possible...

    ND Game & Fish

I'm assuming that's 101 acres enrolled into CRP on top of the acres already enrolled (in 2014 SD had 900,000 acres enrolled in CRP). The 2015 Farm Bill reduced the CRP acreage cap to 24 million nationwide by 2017. That cap is 1.4 million acres less than the CRP acres enrolled in 2015. Looks...

    Fish Shelf Life

I have a hard enough time just getting a fish from the cleaning board to the frying pan before it's consumed, I can't even imagine what it's like wondering if a fish has gone bad in the fridge.

    ND Game & Fish

Soooo....maybe that's why the old guy you bought it from put it into CRP in the first place...? I was always told farmers were stewards of the land...true "nature boyz." But I'm assuming you refer to another party. Good luck assimilating that land into something worthwhile. Hopefully it...

Well, you have CRP. You tell me. I imagine some federal land biologist/assessor person. Or a monkey in an office throwing darts at a board. As long as you get paid, why do you care? Razed...tilled assunder...repurposed. It's like one of those Ad Libs...pick a verb that fits. Geeze Fritz, I...

    ND Game & Fish

True, if you're paying cash rent rates. But the farmers now clamoring for CRP aren't exactly asking for top dollar, are they? Seems to me they want the going CRP rate payment just so they can get ahead, knowing full well they're going to lose money planting crops even before they put a seeder on...

    Scheels Hunting Expo...Anyone Going?

Agreed. It always seems like the "deals" are actually just the normal price, but they jack up the perceived normal price and then mark it on "sale" so it looks like you're saving money. Trust me, I'll have the Amazon page pulled up to price check....
