Message: <blockquote data-quote="SDMF" data-source="post: 484487" data-attributes="member: 412">Well, the accuracy oil looks like "Snake Oil".However, Charlie Sisk has taken over distribution of the nano-ceramic "Dyna-Tek" Bore Coat which is now referred to as:937 Bore ArmorI have 3 rifle barrels I treated w/Dyna-Tek (Ultra Bore Coat then, Bore Armor now), all 3 show easy-to-see throat wear, all 3 are still VERY accurate, all 3 have maintained very consistent velocity, the 308 falling off a bit:A factory Rem 700 1:12 .308Win 20" SPS Tactical spring '07.  Bbl was very rough from the factory, fouled something awful.  At around 50 rounds I decided to try UBC (Ultra Bore Coat, same stuff, pre-Dyna-Tek) I cleaned it down to bare metal, applied as instructed then took it out and shot it until it got VERY hot as heat/pressure are what cure UBC (now Bore Armor).  I got a crap-ton of dirty patches 1st cleaning post-curing session.  Since then, the bbl has never seen anything more than either Butch's Bore shine or Bore Tech Eliminator on patches and only been scrubbed with a nylon brush.  That bbl is over 3K rounds.  I've lost about 25fps from new and have extended the COAL of loaded rounds 3x.  You can see some throat erosion but it still cleans up in just a few wet patches, 10-15 strokes with a nylon brush, a few wet patches, a few dry patches and you're done.  Virtually 0 copper fouling since the application.  We've nicknamed it the "Monkey Rifle" as any monkey can get behind it and assuming they use the trajectory chart on the rifle, any monkey behind the rifle can shoot it well.A #3 contour Lilja 1:10 3-groove in .257 Wby.   The rifle/new bbl had only been test-fired by the gunsmith.  I cleaned it to bare metal, I applied UBC, and it's never really copper fouled, though most upper-end aftermarket don't foul much, treated or not.  Other than the initial cleanup, that bbl hasn't ever seen more than nylon brushes and soaked patches on a jag.  No bronze brushes, no JB/IOSSO/Flitz.  I'm over 800 rounds down the bbl.  Again, I can see throat wear, I haven't really lost any appreciable velocity, and despite the erosion, it's still easy to clean and will go well over 100 rounds between cleanings.An MTU contour Brux 1:8.5 4-groove in 243AI, similar to the 257Wby, I applied UBC before even working up loads.  I used one of the fire-forming sessions to "cure" the UBC, getting it again, very hot.  Throat wear is obvious through a bore scope, but, again, the rifle will go 150+ rounds between cleanings and eventually I just feel guilty and run some Butch's, patches, and a nylon brush down the bore.  I've extended the COAL of loaded rounds 2x to maintain contact w/the lands prior to firing.  The barrel is north of 1500 rounds and still very accurate.When UBC became Dyna-Tek it's availability at least for me became spotty and I fell out of the habit of using it.  There's been a couple threads on 24hrCampfire about Mr. Sisk taking over distribution and his commitment to product availability.I've learned, or at least decided that upper-end aftermarket bbls at least for me, haven't required anything special to keep them from fouling or the ability to go long shot-strings between cleanings.  I will say this, if I acquired a rifle/bbl that was a habitual "fouler" requiring frequent cleaning, especially if that cleaning was a pain due to a rough/uneven bore, I'd be on the horn ordering up a bottle of Bore Armor based on what it did for my factory Remington 308 Bbl.The 3 barrels above will very consistently return to the pre-cleaning POA/POI within 1 shot and velocity anomalies disappear within 3 shots.From the Sisk website regarding prep and application:<a href="https://siskriflesmfg.com/wp-content/uploads/2026/03/937-BoreArmor.pdf" target="_blank">https://siskriflesmfg.com/wp-content/uploads/2026/03/937-BoreArmor.pdf</a></blockquote>
