For heat (gas furnace) I shut off the breaker and wire the cord directly into the furnace at the shutoff switch that is near the furnace. Wire it into the switch leg with a couple of wire nuts. We also run in a couple regular extension cords for power to the TV and some lamps, etc. It's simple and gets a guy by for a couple days. </p><p></p><p>I don't normally run the generator all the time. I'll start it up a few times a day and heat the house up to about 75 degrees and then restart it when it gets down to 55 degrees or so. At night I'll start it up once at about 3am and then again in the morning.</p><p></p><p><span style="color: silver"><span style="font-size: 9px">- - - Updated - - -</span></span></p><p></p><p>I also set up the buddy heaters and run them during the day.</p></blockquote><p></p>
