The spring season consists of eight weeks: two practice weeks, a reserve week, and five weeks of league competition, on Sunday afternoons from Mar. 24 to May 19 at Capital City Gun Club (CCGC) north of Bismarck. Students in grades 6-12 with hunters education may register by attending one of the Informational and Sign-Up Meetings below:</p><p></p><p><strong>Bismarck High & Wachter Middle – Jan. 15 at 6:00pm in BHS Room 121</strong></p><p><strong>Mandan High & Middle Schools – Jan. 17 at 6:00pm in the Mandan High School Cafeteria</strong></p><p><strong>Shiloh Christian School – Jan. 21 at 5:30pm in the Shiloh Commons Area</strong></p><p><strong>St. Mary’s High & Middle Schools – Jan. 22 at 7:00pm in SMCHS Room 308</strong></p><p><strong>Century High & Horizon Middle – Jan. 23 at 5:30pm in the CHS Library</strong></p><p><strong>Legacy High & Simle Middle – Jan. 24 at 6:00pm in LHS Room B009</strong></p><p></p><p>Thanks to generous contributions by sponsoring area businesses and sportsmen’s groups, the Spring 2019 season cost is just $250.00, with participants providing their own 12- or 20-gauge shotgun, safety glasses and ear protection. Participants will enroll and pay at the meetings above; $220.00 by check, and $30.00 by credit card online to the ND CTL for league registration. Participants are encouraged to bring a copy of their hunters education number with them to registration. </p><p></p><p>In its third year, the Missouri River Clay Target League (MR CTL) serves as the parent organization for the six area schools’ participation in the rapidly-expanding ND CTL with a staff of 25 coaches and 55 volunteers and the facilities at CCGC serving as the backdrop for the pursuit of safe, fun and marksmanship-oriented competition in the state league, now entering its fifth year. </p><p></p><p>“After a year of incredible growth, we are excited to see these young area shooters establish themselves and to bring new participants into the fold,” said MR CTL Volunteer Coach Nick Simonson, “there is high demand for this program and we expect to hit our cap of 240 student-athletes this spring, with more than 170 returners already signed up for the season,” he concluded</p><p></p><p>Last year, more than 1,400 North Dakota high school students participated in the spring league, and it is anticipated that over 2,000 will compete in the coming season on more than 60 teams statewide. The only travel required, other than to the nearby CCGC facility, is the ND CTL State Championship in Horace, N.D. on June 15 & 16. The popularity of CTL has grown so rapidly in part because it provides an alternative outdoor sport in which everyone can participate and boasts a flawless safety record.
