It could be said that the O wasn't good today but let's think about that for a second. Time of possession was big in favor of the Bison. While the Bison didn't dominate like in a lot of games this year that jMU defense was very good and fast. Time of possession becomes huge against a team that was averaging more than 40 ppg. Much was said about the defensive backs of JMU prior to the game. Yes, they were pretty good, but they were either confused or just didn't think they could be beat when they made at least one play where they blew a coverage they paid dearly for that mistake. Add in a defense that was so solid all game long. JMU had several possessions with good field position and got very little with them. Did JMU drop some passes. Yup. Perhaps it was because they were so used to running the route they wanted and the QB was so used to sitting and taking his time to find an open receiver and all of a sudden their timing is completely thrown off. QB has to get rid of the ball almost immediately and receivers aren't used to seeing the ball in the air that quick. Timing between QB's and receivers is a huge part of the passing game. Overall, the win was a team effort. If one part made a mistake, another part took up the slack. Stick was named the MVP, he had a good game against a very good defense. It is also very easy to say the defense should have been the MVP, can't argue but it seems like the majority of the time an offensive player is named the MVP. Watching Stick in many interviews I'm pretty sure he's thanking his teammates for the award he received. Overall it was a great Bison Win. And I for one am very pleased with the victory and can easily overlook the few plays that didn't go exactly like I would have drawn them out. Can't wait for next year. GO BISON
