Unless you're gymnast, good luck getting back in the boat.  With the recessed transom  there is nothing to brace other foot against and is hard to get your foot high enough to get on the first step. I had some teenage boys last year  struggle to get back in the boat without someone pulling them in. When I tried to get in it took two of them hauling me over the transom. Until that day I felt safe knowing I could climb up in the boat myself if I ever took a dump in icy water. Not so sure about that now. I wouldn't mind getting The same type of ladder but longer with an extra step</p></blockquote><p></p>
