If it is an older power drive just make sure it turns smoothly right and left. They were pretty bullet proof other than some circuit board issues, usually affecting ability to steer one direction or the other. That is an easy fix. I recently bought a new board for 35 bucks.  Occasional brush problems but that's an easy fix as well. The old foot pedals are the biggest pain in the butt.
