Rats are attracted to clutter, food, and filth.&nbsp; Keep the food area clean as well as your yard and you will have no problems with rodents.&nbsp; Piles of refuse and your garbage containers,&nbsp; can and do attract rodents with or without chickens.&nbsp; A chicken coop for 6 birds will be the size of a regular dog house and can be put on cinder blocks.&nbsp; I've seen people that use a large dog travel cage with a doggie door access and it works fine.&nbsp; The biggest problem with urban chickens, as with most everything else is WINTER.&nbsp; Keeping them, the water, and the eggs from freezing.&nbsp; It can be done as lots of people keep their dogs in the garage in winter.&nbsp; You just have to keep the area cleaned up.&nbsp; It's very similar to keeping an outside dog.&nbsp; Egg On!!!</p></blockquote><p></p>
