Interesting read. I live very nearby to a Tesla charging station along the interstate. I saw them put it in and thought it would never get used. It's actually very seldom I'm not at that gas station when there isn't one or two at least there charging. Heck, there are two of them in the small development I live in. Last time I looked, a super charge at the Tesla station @ $2 gas was about even up in cost. If fuel is higher, that changes, but I was surprised at the cost. If you told me that I could have an electric truck with the specs they say, for the same costs as a gasser, and with a lifespan of 300k miles, I would consider it if there was a network of good speed chargers around. I think the grid is really the most significant limiting factor now. If everyone starts getting them, hotels, campgrounds, heck your relatives are going to have to charge you for your vehicle charge when you visit. Prices will go up at all those places, but you won't be paying for fuel. The KERS energy recovery system is used on F1 cars. Lots of systems out there trying to harness "dead" energy. Batteries though I still question. Minus the environmental cost of building them, anyone every have a Black and Decker drill set from the 90's. Those batteries were shit. Yeah, my Milwaukee batteries are better now, but what do they look like in 5 years? I had a customer with a Prius whose batteries went dead at 120k.....$6000 to replace. But who knows, I need to ask my next Uber driver how the Prius cars are holding up, they all drive them LOL!
