I have never had a issue with the farmer because he lives on the road. He has never hassled me about it because I respect the barrels. The barrel is more of a form of respect as to "if you can move the barrel you can put it back". There is another section road in the same area where  someone dumped two big piles of dirt and rock on top of road, but just enough room to drive around them. There is a farmstead off of 281 that is on a section line that runs through a person's yard that leads to Irvine. At one time that was the only way to get onto the lake but the owner has put up a rope knowing full well that road is on a section line. I have used that road before but I respect the rope by putting it back up after proceeding either in or out. These barricades would look like to some not knowing they are illegal obstacles, but for me it's a sign of respect to the people who live on these section lines. I will respect the barrel,the rope,and the rock pile and take it at face value. There are lots of spots like this in the Devils Lake basin. There is one example of a section line being closed to the public by dry lake it cost the owner some cash to do it but has a nice boat launch that can be only used by him or those who have permission. He had to get a sign made to advise the public of.the change in access.</blockquote>
