Message: <blockquote data-quote="KDM" data-source="post: 133058" data-attributes="member: 314"><p>Yep!!  Boney fishes like northerns fall apart when the beetles eat the tissue between the bone plates and between the jaws.  So.......there needs to be some reconstruction and puzzle putting together to get a finished product, which I will admit I'm NOT the best at.  We tried a 20 lb northern and promptly LOST about a third of the skull as the beetles carried the pieces away and buried them in the floor material never to be seen again as I don't really want to dig around in that stuff.  When we try again, we will have to make some kind of metal mesh bag or something to keep all the parts together.  We have successfully done 3 paddle fish skulls though.  They turned out pretty good if I do say so myself.</p></blockquote><p></p>
