As a Christian I embrace the ideals of the Bible and such, but if I claim the constitution gives us a right to post them in a govt funded public school as a Constitutionalist I have to accept a Muslim or Buddist or other religion has that right as well. Just as I argue the personal views of a gay couple can not sway the intent and language of our Constitution, neither can the personal views of a particular religion and those that follow it. One can not pick and choose when we embrace our Constitution. As such I believe our schools should embrace the teaching of the 3 rs (figuratively speaking) and leave families and the church teach religious ideologies. I do NOT think a student should be punished for expressing their religious beiefs, but where do you start and where do you stop when a PUBLIC school funded by govt monies begins sanctioning religious ideologies under our Constitution? there is no such language in our Constitution of "separation of church and state", that language came from a letter Jefferson wrote on the govt establishing a national religion. The language regarding religion in our Constitution lies in the 1st amendment. If you are a true supporter of our Constitution like it or not you have to acknowledge that it allows for a passage from the Koran to be posted alongside the 10 commandments as well.
