[QUOTE="Allen, post: 206647, member: 389"] You don't "allow" things by law as a general rule, laws tend to be more restrictive in nature than guidance on what a person should do in normal course of their daily affairs. In that sense, the 1st amendment suggests to me that it is in no way illegal, or unconstitutional for a school to have religion incorporated into its fiber. Rather, the 1st amendment says that that Congress can't pass a law requiring public schools to adhere to a specific religion and not another. We have to remember that the majority of people who came to this continent were coming here because there was a sanctioned Christian denomination back in their homelands. They didn't originally come here to practice atheism, Buddhism, Hinduism, or Muslim beliefs. Heck, the first Mosque in the U.S. wasn't established until settlers arrived in ND. Yep, the first in the country was built in Ross, ND around 1929. It is too much credit for forethought to be given to our founding fathers to think they envisioned either the level of atheism or muslim beliefs currently in this country. Rather, they sought to protect protestants from the catholics, and vice versa with the not allowing a sanctioned denomination like the Church of England, or the Roman Catholic Church from getting too much power (little bit of a broad brush there, but you get my point).
