Message: <blockquote data-quote="Tymurrey" data-source="post: 246143" data-attributes="member: 859"><p>The last couple of days I’ve put out a few boughten wildlife food blocks and some homemade ones along with a few buckets of corn.  This won’t help much if we get the freezing rain though.  The birds I hunt have some deep draws and bullberry thickets to get some protection from the weather so hopefully we carry some through.  If they find the homemade blocks that will help them put on some fat and energy.  The blocks are about 1.5 gallons of scratch grains and 3lbs of melted vegetable shortening mixed in.  The birds eat them like crazy and when I feed them during the years when the winter is bad with season still open I can’t believe how fat and healthy the birds are that have been eating them.  I don’t think the deer eat them but turkeys will absolutely destroy them.  Pretty cheap and easy feed for the birds.</p></blockquote><p></p>
