Obi: Maybe I am sitting it up wrong but have a total of 8 sites and four of them are food plots. Yes the deer are wondering during the rut. Rifle hunters drive around looking for them. I sit in a permanent stand waiting for them to come to me. Yes bucks chase does and it stands to reason they will come up to the does at my stand during the rut. However over the years the deer are not there during the rut like they are before and after. Last night finally a buck name grandpa came back after being gone for a month. Others have not come back yet. They leave and they do not stand and wait at my food plots waiting for a doe. They go looking for them there does. The doe numbers are also down during the rut at my stand. I have never seen a buck on a doe at my stand. They are to embarrass or like to have private sex and not in front of me. Hunting for me with a bow during the rut is the poorest time to be able to harvest with the time afterwards when bucks are looking to replenish there food being the best, along with the cold weather and snow on the ground. It is starting now. I am not sure how I can sit up a food plot to have the deer come to my plot big time during the rut. I do not understand why we need to change as someone will always be piss no matter what. As far as closing during the rut for bow hunters, we bow hunters do not have that same advantage as a rifle hunter has during the rut. But fine. I rifle hunted for 30 plus years and I have no ill will towards them and do not understand why rifle hunters have ill will to bow hunters. Our arrows do not travel as far as a bullet and for the most part we wait for the deer to come to us. Trust me it is a lot more work if you want to bow hunt successfully. When I was young with a rifle I shot at a box Friday morning and then walk. After a few days of that I would then drive a vehicle in the morning and late afternoon. Finally we would get a case of beer and drive all day in a vehicle(there were no deer back then) or sit in a vehicle on a hill top. Hunting with a rifle during the rut gave me an advantage. It was fine and I see no reason to take that away from those who do that today. It was good for me back then and I will not deprive the hunter today of that. A lot of good conversation over those beers, with the music turn up and talking stupidly. db when I was young I just not sit at the watering hole waiting for that one lady to come so I could do what I wanted to do. I needed to go looking and sure did not sit in one spot. Today I am no longer looking for that lady and find I do sit in one spot looking for what I am looking for today.
