Thanks guys for the input, nobody on either side of my parents families have had a hernia repaired so that was no option and doctors like to over generalize about what can and can't be done. I have only been under one other time in my life and that was 25 years ago. Dislocated my elbow during a wrestling match when I was in 8 grade, Didn't go in right away which was bad because my arm was 3 times the size as my other arm, back in the last century we never went to the doctor if we stubbed our big toe. We waited till it was dire straits " give it a few days if the swelling doesn't come down you should go in" was the normal procedure. I don't think that is the norm for some anymore. I don't like needles, sight of my own blood, and videos of woman giving birth. After 911 there were pictures of the bodies of the people who jumped from the towers and knowing that these were real live people absolutely scared me. If someone would of said that those were props for a movie I would of said those look real but knowing that they were real gave me the Willies. The first time I watched the passion of Christ which was very intense to know that was actually how the Romans persecuted the Jews before they nailed them from the cross.
