It ain't a titty sprinkling "passing lane"! By ND law, 4 lane highways are exactly that, 4 lanes for the purpose of driving. It always cracks me up when I hear about a "passing lane". I also hear from people who complain that someone in the non-passing lane doesn't pull over into the passing lane to allow someone sitting at a stop sign to be able to get onto the busy 4-lane roadway from a popular entrance point (thinking south of Bismarck coming around the airport as a good example). That being said, there is no legislating common courtesy. Let people get around ya, it won't do the blood pressure any good for those in the left lane running neck and neck with someone in the right lane or those they have trapped behind them. - - - Updated - - - As a side note, I find it interesting that the reviews on new headlights are so dismal. I have been very happy with the lighting system on both my 09 F250 and 15 4-Runner. Both give me plenty of light to see what I need to see at posted highway speeds. As far as lights on bright or dim on an interstate? Indeed, the law doesn't require dimming on split highways like the interstate or the 4 lane portions of 83, 85, 2, etc. However, I like to dim my lights when going around sweeping corners and vehicles on the other side are in my sights, so to speak. Just seems the right thing to do.
