I know from having friends who have added them that some mfgs actually sell a transom reinforcement kit to either handle a jack plate or a bigger engine.</p><p></p><p>Boat mfgs are in limbo right now with the fast advancement of smaller light weight high HP engines, they used to build transoms for the weight of the max size engine but now the HP of the new engines is overtaking the need for stronger transoms vs the weight and have got the mfgs behind the 8 ball tying to keep things strong enough for todays smaller high hp engines.</p></blockquote><p></p>
