Ive passed up allot of bears going home with nothing many years waiting for a gorilla bear like I took this past Saturday up near Fort Vermillion Alberta. He showed up on camera the day before we got there, I couldn't believe the size of him. It was going to be him or nothing for me that week. Here's the pics we got, such a giant head and cool question mark blaze! I sat on that stand every day and never saw him nor got pics of him anywhere. I just chalked it down as my bad luck dealing with giant black bears. We were packed up and ready to leave Saturday morning. I could tell our guide and outfitter Kevin was very disappointed but I wasn't. I'd been able to go after a dream bear and my hunting partner took his first boar, a beautiful 6ft 6 with a prime coat. But just then I thought you know what we drove all the way up here, lets give it one more shot. I asked Kevin you wanna run and check cameras one last time?" Shoulda seen the smile on his face! Two stands in and boom there he was the evening before during shooting light 5 miles from the stand I had been sitting! I lookedvat Kevin gave him knuckles and told him we are still in the fricken game! I had brought all my gear so I just climbed up the stand at 1030 am. At 900 pm guess who came strolling in like he owned the joint! The rest is history, i put a grim reaper pro broadhead through him and he was down in about 50 yards. He's a beautiful giant bear, still can't believe it all came together! Crazy how the brown came out in the morning sun, in the bush he looks quite black. Oh and dimensions 7ft 3 in squared Just shy of 400 lbs Looking at trail cam pics I would have sworn he'd go boon and Crockett. But evidently thats like taking a 190 net typical whitetail!
