The landowner that leased his property to the outfitter doesn't have to post his land anymore, doesn't have to answer the phone when hunters want to hunt, doesn't have to deal with trespassers, or any other land access issues as that is now the responsibility of the outfitter, and HE MAKES MONEY for doing it. If you were a landowner, what would you do??
This topic comes up every year and every year I hear the same complaints about posted signs. Most guys aren't landowners and as such only think about this issue from their perspective instead of looking at the whole picture. Ask yourself, Why should a landowner care if hunters have a place to hunt?? Moreover, why should a landowner have to put forth any effort to appease hunters?? I can tell you this much, "Legally Posted" will put more land under the sign than any other two words put together. This past year, several thousand acres of land was LEASED to an outfitter right in the middle of where I hunt. PAY HUNTING BOYS!!!!!!!! You want more pay hunting???? Keep it up. Hunters (We) are our own worst enemy. Keep creating problems for landowners with laws, rules, and requirements and see what happens. To be completely honest, if the people of this state try to force me to post my property every year, put my phone number on the sign, and jump through a bunch of F'n hoops just so the three weekend a year hunters won't have to do a little homework, use common sense, or be a man and ask to hunt, I'll put 'NO TRESPASSING" on my land and that will be the end of it. Now most guys will think "What an asshole". However, I'm playing devils advocate here. Why should I have to do anything to help hunters? The landowner that leased his property to the outfitter doesn't have to post his land anymore, doesn't have to answer the phone when hunters want to hunt, doesn't have to deal with trespassers, or any other land access issues as that is now the responsibility of the outfitter, and HE MAKES MONEY for doing it. If you were a landowner, what would you do??
