I'm trying to up my walleye game in hopes of having greater success with Son No. 1 this winter. So, I do what comes natural, which is to turn to the interweb and start googling "How To Ice Fish Walleyes." Most of it is same-old, same-old. I've fished walleyes my whole life, so I'm not a complete novice. But I'm always on the lookout for new information, or at least new-to-me information. Specifically with locations...this is my greatest weakness. But there is one "tip" that rears its head in every, single, damn walleye ice fishing article and it drives me absolutely nuts: Start ice fishing where you found them in the fall. This is followed by absolutely no insight into what those locations may be. OH! Thanks for that! It's not like I hunt from September to January every year. By all means, I'll just go back in time and go walleye fishing in October, the absolute pinnacle of bird hunting season, so I'm prepared for ice fishing come January. Yes. Lovely. OK, lame rant I know. And really, I'm not that mad. Just have to chuckle a bit. To me, the "fall fishing spots for ice fishing" is hands down the worst "tip" that keeps getting regurgitated over and over. On that note, feel free to behest your greatest non-lame walleye tips for all to read. I'm hoping to increasing my lifetime winning percentage. As it stands, I'm basically the Cleveland Browns of walleye ice fishing.
