I had intended to maybe tell another story but what i did tell is enough. Just never had a former Vietnam vet to talk to about things so i am glad that this site will allow me and thanks to all who wrote back. I am only one of a few thousand with a story. I am glad that vet service officer ask me to write a story. Some of your comments hit home bigtime. I am proud to have serve and to have serve in Nam. The 22 months I serve in the Army taught me a lot. The experience that being there has mature me and a understanding of life. There were over 58000 vets who die over there, and I am glad I was not one of them. Many more got screwed up. In 1968 there was a village name My Lai and a Lt Calley. He had 100 troops under him. They told him the village was full of vc there and to take care of it. He died last year at the age of 80. If you read that, then read a story taking place in December of 1890. The place was Wounded Knee. Similar stories with a different ending. War is hell and it is hard for me to understand why a soldier would do what they did at both. Hate must have run beyond reason. But I was not there at either so only know what I have read, But again, I am glad I was able to serve and reach out on here. db-2
