Kangaroo isn't bad. Little tough and dry if it isn't made right. Camel tastes like very bad beef. Was going to try Emu and Crocodile but they only had camel and kangaroo the night we ate there. They alternate one night camel and kangaroo then the next night emu and crocodile. The kangaroos in the outback are frigging huge. Some of the big reds get 6-7' tall and weigh more than a big muley buck. Hit one of them without a roo bar and you can call the salvage yard. I pulled off the road and trailed a couple of them for about a mile into the bush but they were really cagey and stayed about 3-400 yards away from me and just peeked over the brush to keep me in sight. Met a couple there on holiday (what they call vacation) and the guy told me he was going to have to shoot 40 roos for a neighbor when he got home. The neighbor got a permit from the government to shoot them to thin the herd near his home. I asked if they used the meat and he said the neighbor didn't want to pay the extra fee for the meat permit so they were just going to let them lay. Met 4 or 5 young guys on holiday and one gave me his number and told me if I ever got to Adelaide I should give him a call and he and his buddies would take me out jacklighting roos. He said it was great fun. Good salt of the earth people in the outback.
