Lots of lever-guns came from the factory with a myriad of bbl lengths but only 1 real "model number".  The issue becomes determining the real thing from an elaborate fake.  No big deal if one is buying a "shooter" priced like a "shooter".  Way big deal if someone is buying a very rare and desirable collector item of low production number.  There's a shit-ton of money made by folks who are really good at faking/counterfeiting low-production number variants of any/all firearms.</p></blockquote><p></p>
