If the bite was real light I would mark depth with a bobber stop and then make 4 or 5 wraps of line around my finger, slip the line off and pinch the loops hard. With 4# test line it would cause it to form ZZZZ in the line. Be ready to set hook at the slightest motion cause the gills would just suck that waxie in and out with out biting. like it was just tasting the bait.
