The number one killer of American Blue Bird is the cow bird laying its eggs in Blue Bird nests. Feral cats come in topping the list at number two. Cameras were installed to monitor nests. The videos should be released to the public to educate what their damn cat does. Hey Plains, wouldn't the US Geological Survey have the data and/or film? I used the Blue Bird analogy for the very reason my wife walks in just now and says, "you hunters just don't want cats out there eating your game birds so you can shoot more." .......honey, sportsmen don't shoot Blue Birds....she abandons the conversation. My neighbor had some horses in an old farmstead with bales stacked in buildings etc. If one adopted cat was good 50 would be better. He lived in town and the cats scattered. One cold day I took a walk on snowshoes and came upon a hen pheasant with just the head eaten off and the body was still warm. The cat prints went into some brush. There she sat so I said here kitty and she came right up to me. I grabbed her by the back legs and swung her around against a tree. She pissed all over my glove. You know how when it is cold your nose runs a little so you wipe on your glove? Every time I forgot, I got a little reminder of that cat.
