my kids were in daycare as soon as they were old enough to be in daycare - home then a center. My wife traveled alot for her job. What i noticed as soon as they hit the center they became competitive education wise. My kids did some sports but they also worked as soon as they handled their own money including paying for ins, gas. As a parent our job was purely expectational. Standardized tests --- we had those when i was a kid. That is not the issue. The issue is the bullshit that goes on in class. Set one set of standardized rules for bullshit for behavior. You have always had the has and has nots. They both have their bullshit. All we here now is behavior problems that just an excuse word. Its like a shorthair that chews up your pheasant when they bring it back or runs off ----you can train that out of them. Shorts school: Kick em out and set up a quasi military school where they are put on one of our almost empty bases --- let me run that school please. Parents give to much to their kids, sports are way over rated. I also have to give credit to the grandparents who from the silent generation; they were also big influences to my kids. Who ever thought sports would be where they are today. Talk about standardized tests that is (sports)the standardized test of today. I talk to parents and it seems like all they care is if little johnny has the big game and he keeps up with the other kids in the hood, and the blame the school if his grades are no good. Expectations imo was the key and working at a early age.
