[QUOTE="Captain Ahab, post: 202286, member: 366"] Had a great afternoon on the Red River of the North this last fall(2017). I saw an opening to sneak away when weather and conditions were just right. We started out a little slow until a few eaters started to tap our jigs. A while later I had a tell tale "inhale" of a large fish and set the hook into dead weight. She came in fairly easy until she got to the boat and then did not want to come up. She hit the surface a few times with a bad angle for the net man. The third try and she was in the net. She looked just like a Lake Winnipeg fish with the girth and build. Taped her at 30.25" with 19" girth. Measurements said more, but it hit 11.5lbs on the tube scale. I was about to release her, but my boat mates said I was nuts so I am going to have our very own Multispecies put her on the wall. Well, 45 minutes later I feel another nice thud and reel down to give another Jimmy Houston hookset. This one fought hard from the beginning and did a few catfish moves. When it got closer it started to have the right "feel". On the second net attempt the next double digit eye was in hand. This fat gal taped at 28.5" with 18" girth. The tube scale settled a needle over 10lbs(10lbs 2oz). I snapped a few pics with her and she swam away to fight again. Catching big eyes just never gets old.
